UK trade body slams Sony's disc phase-out: "removing choice, not making progress"

The UK's Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA), whose members include Amazon, Game, Sainsbury's and HMV, has condemned Sony's plan to end physical PlayStation disc production by 2028. The ERA called the move "a triumph of corporate convenience over consumer choice," noting that millions of gamers still buy physical copies because they value true ownership. The organisation insists digital games should complement physical formats, not replace them.
