ECB to pilot digital euro from 2027; Polish banks among participants

The European Central Bank has announced the launch of a digital euro (CBDC) pilot in the second half of 2027. Banks, payment institutions and retailers from across the eurozone will take part in technical and operational tests, including a bank familiar to Polish consumers. The project aims to assess whether the central bank digital currency is ready for broad rollout.
