New BBC Director General backs streaming licence fee but admits enforcement will be "difficult"
New BBC Director General Matt Brittin has expressed support for extending the £180 annual licence fee to streaming services, including Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+. He acknowledged, however, that enforcement of such an expanded fee would be "difficult." The proposal would make the fee apply to those watching non-live TV on streaming platforms, not only traditional live broadcasts.
