German air force chief: Europe has no time to wait for homegrown defence — US arms still needed

German air force commander General Holger Neumann told POLITICO that Germany must continue buying proven US weapons systems, including fighter jets, to counter the threat from Vladimir Putin's Russia. In his view, Europe cannot afford to wait for the long-term results of developing its own defence industry. Rapid combat readiness must take priority over building new European platforms.
