China purges Politburo member Ma Xingrui over corruption and sex charges

Ma Xingrui, a former head of China's space programme and one-time governor of Xinjiang, has been purged from the Communist Party's Politburo on charges of corruption and sexual offences. He is the third Politburo member to be expelled since 2022. Ma was considered one of the most powerful figures in China's political hierarchy.
