Blizzard took a big swing at loot in Diablo 4's latest season and completely whiffed it —at least in terms of keeping players driven to grind for its most powerful items. Today, it dropped a patch to try to remedy some of the problems, starting with a noticeable boost to everyone's loot drops.

The biggest criticism over the new Season of Death Awakening was that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze when it came to Diablo 4's new Mythic Unique items. These build-defining items just weren't dropping at a rate that made them realistically attainable for anyone, not even streamers who play all day.

According to the patch notes , this might've been caused by a bug that prevented Mythic Uniques from dropping from popular sources like bosses. Following this update, everything seems to be working as intended, or at least as you'd expect. Players are already finding noticeably more of them a few hours after the patch.

Mythic Uniques are still pretty rare, especially if you haven't reached the highest Torment difficulty yet, but they seem to drop at a rate that is reasonable for an action RPG that is usually good about respecting your time. I've been keeping an eye on streamer Wudijo since the update landed and he's found a handful of Mythics even while playing a weaker character who can't blast through a dozen bosses in a few minutes. This tells me normal people like you and me can expect to see some purple drops before Diablo 5.

There are also scattered reports of players finding a whole new type of Mythic loot that didn't exist before the patch. Reddit user Meansingleguy found a Mythic Unique Charm, which is basically an alternative version of the item that can be equipped on your Talisman instead of your character. A few players found some of these around the launch of the Lord of Hatred expansion but they were believed to be unintended drops due to a bug. Nobody knows if the ones people are finding today are intended to be in the game or not, but hey, we'll take what we can get.

Some issues with the season still remain, like the limit on wearing only one "crafted" Mythic Unique. You're supposed to complete the new seasonal events for materials to craft them, but once you have the one you want there's no reason to keep doing it. The patch also doesn't fix the fact that Mythic Uniques still have largely random stats on them, which kind of kills the excitement of finding one when it's terrible. I would bet some changes are probably going to be saved for next season.

Even if I still think the Season of Death Awakening was a surprisingly lukewarm follow-up to an excellent expansion, I'm happy to see Blizzard has put in the work to make it less of a slog.

China’s Prosecutors Move to Treat Crypto Mixers as Evidence of Money Laundering

China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate has published a set of recommendations that would reshape how the country investigates and prosecutes cryptocurrency-related money laundering, including a proposal to treat the use of mixers and privacy coins as evidence of criminal intent.

The article, released in the official Procuratorial Daily, was written by two prosecutors from Hunan Province’s Yuhu District and an associate law professor at Xiangtan University.

The authors argue that the decentralized, pseudonymous, and cross-border design of virtual currencies has outpaced China’s legal framework and created a three-part problem: defining the offense, gathering evidence, and recovering stolen assets.

At the center of the debate is a gap between statutes. China’s Anti-Money Laundering Law has dropped restrictions on which predicate offenses qualify, but Article 191 of the Criminal Law still limits money laundering charges to seven categories.

As a result, most crypto cases fall under Article 312, which covers concealing criminal proceeds, a charge the authors describe as a catch-all. They call for wider use of the money laundering statute and a “one case, two checks” principle that would require investigators to look for laundering indicators in every major criminal probe.

Burden shifts in China’s courts

Three proposals stand out. The first, described as blockchain self-authentication, would treat on-chain records from public block explorers as reliable when hash values match, and would preliminarily establish their integrity.

The second would shift the burden of proof: once prosecutors submit a transaction-chain analysis report, the defense would need to disprove it.

The third would allow courts to presume laundering intent from conduct alone. Under that standard, the use of mixers or privacy coins, the sale of large holdings at off-market prices, or high-value transactions through anonymous wallets with no clear source would establish intent unless a defendant offered a reasonable rebuttal.

The authors also address evidence collection, noting that mixers, privacy coins, and decentralized exchanges allow multi-layered splitting and cross-chain transfers that traditional methods struggle to trace.

They propose adaptive rules for electronic data, tiered standards of proof, and clearer authorization for technical measures such as real-time monitoring and traffic analysis, with limits to protect personal information and cybersecurity.

Asset recovery presents a further obstacle. With crypto trading banned in China, authorities hold seized coins without a legal channel to liquidate them.

The paper recommends a national platform to store, value, and dispose of confiscated assets through compliant channels, along with an expert committee that would set values using on-chain data and international exchange prices.

It also urges bilateral and multilateral agreements and a blockchain-based “judicial cooperation chain” to trace and freeze funds moved abroad.

The recommendations carry no legal force, but they signal a possible direction for China’s courts. The proposals arrive as Chinese-language laundering networks processed $16.15 billion in 2025, about 20% of the global total, according to Chainalysis.

In 2024, Chinese prosecutors brought charges against more than 3,000 people in crypto-related laundering cases, a figure that underscores the scale of the challenge.

The Trump administration is barring American citizens who were recently in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where there is an ongoing Ebola outbreak, from returning to the U.S. until they’ve spent 21 days in a third country, a U.S. official confirmed to POLITICO Tuesday.

In an effort to prevent Ebola from entering the U.S., the Trump administration began using federal transportation law on Monday to “place any American citizens who have been in the DRC on a Do-Not-Board list for any commercial flights heading into the United States,” the official said.

Reuters first reported the news . POLITICO granted the official anonymity in order to confirm Reuters’ report.

Do-not-board lists are generally intended to prevent travelers “known or suspected to have a contagious disease” that poses a public health threat from taking commercial flights, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention .

The decision follows a pattern of the Trump administration imposing unusually stringent travel restrictions related to the outbreak. In May, the administration blocked green card holders reentering the U.S. if they had recently been in the Congo. The administration also took an unusually stringent approach in quarantining Americans who’d been aboard a cruise ship with a deadly outbreak of hantavirus this spring. They were kept at a government facility in Nebraska for weeks. One passenger who wanted to leave said she was held against her will.

During an outbreak in West Africa that started in 2013 and grew to be the largest on record, the Obama administration did not implement travel bans, only diverting travelers who were recently in affected countries to certain airports for screening. The Trump administration had been doing the same for U.S. citizen travelers, naming in May four airports in Virginia, New York, Texas and Georgia that could screen arriving passengers.

The administration’s approach has reignited a debate over travel restrictions and infectious disease. Many global health bodies, including the World Health Organization, argue that travel restrictions usually do more harm than good, creating stigma, hurting local economies and discouraging countries from being transparent about infectious disease outbreaks.

It’s unclear if the restrictions apply to U.S. government employees and contractors, and the White House did not immediately respond to questions about the scope of the ban. The CDC has at least two dozen employees working in the agency’s Congo office .

The decision was based on a new risk assessment by the federal government, which showed increased spread of the virus closer to the Congo’s capital, Kinshasa. As of July 11, there have been nearly 2,000 recorded cases of Ebola in the Congo , and 702 confirmed deaths.

Roughly two dozen American citizens were set to board flights Tuesday to the U.S. after having been in the Congo, the official said, adding that the State Department “will be working with these individuals to assist their 21-day waiting period before they can board a commercial flight back home.” The official did not specify where that waiting period will take place.

Key context: Trump administration has expressed confidence about keeping cases of Ebola out of the U.S.

In May, the administration initiated a plan to set up a facility in Kenya — a country that has never recorded an Ebola case — to house Americans exposed to Ebola, rather than bring them home. That plan was met with a sharp backlash from many Kenyans, who protested the facility. The Kenyan government halted construction of the facility after a Kenyan court blocked the plan.

Two Americans have contracted Ebola in the outbreak so far and were sent to Germany for treatment.

However, as it is an AI tool, it won’t always nail down exactly what you’re looking for. Google is attempting to solve this problem by rolling out a new update.

In a blog post , Google announced that Gmail users can now edit and revise email drafts via the prompt bar. Using the custom refine instructions in Help Me Write, you can now type out a follow-up prompt to refine your draft and undo or redo any edits you make. For example, you could tell the AI to include a missing detail in the second line or add a deadline to the message.
