Sudanese court sentences General Hemedti to death in absentia

A Sudanese court has issued an in absentia death sentence against General Hemedti, commander of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The court found him responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide, particularly in the West Darfur region. The verdict was announced on 14 July 2026.
