Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" becomes first 2026 film to hit $1 billion
The Michael Jackson biopic has officially crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office in 2026, beating many predictions that Toy Story 5 would be next to reach the milestone. The only other 2026 film to have hit $1 billion was The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, a video game adaptation sequel featuring Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy and Jack Black. Recent animated sequels Ne Zha 2, Inside Out 2 and Zootopia 2 had previously achieved the same feat.
