Wildfire south of Paris burns 1,200 hectares as firefighters battle blaze

France battled a major wildfire south of Paris on Monday that scorched approximately 1,200 hectares of forest. Aircraft and ground firefighters worked throughout the day to contain the blaze. Wildfire expert Stefan Doerr of Swansea University warned that fire risk can never be fully eliminated and that the environment must be better prepared to reduce it.
