California launches $3,500 rebate for new electric vehicle buyers
California Governor Gavin Newsom has signed a law giving state residents a $3,500 rebate on the purchase of a new electric vehicle. The move comes after the Trump administration eliminated the federal IRS Section 30D clean vehicle tax credit worth up to $7,500, which caused EV sales to drop sharply across the US and led automakers to cancel planned models. California's rebate is the only state-level replacement for the lost federal incentive so far.
