Sodium Battery Charges in 4 Minutes — But Mass Rollout Still Years Away
Researchers have developed a new electrolyte that allows a sodium-metal laboratory cell to charge at a rate equivalent to a full charge in just four minutes. Sodium batteries could offer a cheaper, more accessible alternative to lithium-ion cells. However, the technology is not yet ready for commercial deployment and further development is needed.
