LAPD wrongly stopped 161 innocent drivers in two months due to licence plate reader errors

An audit found that over two months, the Los Angeles Police Department wrongly stopped 161 people whose cars were incorrectly flagged as stolen by Flock's automated licence plate reader (ALPR) system. As a result, the LAPD decided not to renew its contract with Flock, becoming the largest US police department to drop the technology.
