Colorado to vote on enshrining "right to natural gas" in state constitution
A ballot measure called Initiative 177, submitted on June 25 by the conservative nonprofit Advance Colorado, would amend Colorado's constitution to guarantee fossil fuel companies the right to sell methane gas. If passed in November, it could force communities that banned gas appliances in new construction to reverse those policies. Critics warn the vaguely worded 60-word amendment could undermine the state's climate goals.
