WHO warns cancer cases will nearly double to 35 million a year by 2050
The World Health Organization predicts annual new cancer diagnoses will rise from roughly 20.6 million today to nearly 35 million by 2050, an increase of almost 70%. The biggest surges are forecast for Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region. Low-income countries will be disproportionately affected by this growing health crisis, the WHO warns in a new report.
