Fertiliser prices up 53% – farmers warn of lower yields next year
The Federation of Industry Associations of Agricultural Producers (FBZPR) reported on Monday that European nitrogen fertiliser prices have risen 53% year-on-year, while phosphate fertiliser prices are up 29%. The sharp cost increases are likely to lead farmers to cut fertiliser use, threatening lower crop yields next year. The federation is calling for measures to cushion the blow.
