Germany approves record defence budget for 2027 — over 100 billion euros

The German federal government has approved a draft budget for 2027 that foresees defence spending well above 100 billion euros per year — the highest in the country's post-war history. The move is the latest step in the modernisation of the Bundeswehr following Chancellor Scholz's "Zeitenwende" policy shift after Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
