Hackers are using AI chatbots to write malware, Huntress research reveals

Security firm Huntress analysed a piece of AI-generated malware dubbed "Untitled1.ps1" — a custom Active Directory enumeration tool believed to have been built by low-skilled attackers using generative AI. The attackers paired it with s5cmd for rapid data exfiltration and SharpShares.exe for network share enumeration before being detected and removed. Huntress warns that AI "vibe coding" is lowering the barrier for cybercrime, producing unique payloads that bypass signature-based defences and requiring behavioural analytics to counter.
