UPA massacred around 1,050 Poles in Ostrówki and Wola Ostrowiecka on 30 August 1943

On 30 August 1943, units of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) attacked the Polish villages of Ostrówki and Wola Ostrowiecka in Volhynia, killing approximately 1,050 Poles according to findings by Poland's Institute of National Remembrance (IPN). The site known as Trupie Pole (Field of the Dead) was among the main execution sites, where women and children were the primary victims. The massacre is considered one of the largest single killings of Poles during the Volhynia genocide.
