EU sanctions Russian tech giant VK for enabling state surveillance and censorship
The European Union has placed Russian tech company VK and its subsidiary Kommunikacionnaya Platforma on its sanctions list. Both entities are responsible for the state-linked messaging app Max, which the EU says is used to surveil citizens, impose censorship and identify those who oppose Kremlin policies. The move is part of the EU's ongoing tightening of sanctions against Russia's technology sector.
