Polish Financial Ombudsman calls for new rules banning sale of problem insurers' policies
Marcin Kawiński, deputy Polish Financial Ombudsman, is calling for new rules that would prohibit intermediaries from selling policies issued by insurers known to have systemic claims-handling failures. The proposal comes in the wake of the Gefion and DallBogg scandals, where customers bought cheap third-party liability policies but struggled to receive payouts. Kawiński argues that low premiums should not be the sole selection criterion for insurance.
