Slovakia blocks traffic just beyond Polish S1 — a trap for drivers heading south
After the opening of the S1 expressway and the Węgierska Górka bypass in late 2024, driving south through Europe was expected to become much easier. However, just a few kilometres beyond the Polish-Slovak border, drivers are running into serious traffic bottlenecks on the Slovak side, a problem now widely discussed in Poland. Slovakia has not built adequate infrastructure to handle the traffic generated by the new Polish road.
