Foresters Plan to Recreate Poland's Famous Crooked Forest With 2,000 New Pines
Foresters and scientists from the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin are working to recreate the famous Crooked Forest near Gryfino in Pomerania. Two thousand pine trees have already been planted, but researchers still need to find a method to deliberately bend their trunks — the original German technique from nearly a century ago remains unknown. Professor Marcin Kubus predicts the finished trees will be curved enough to sit on like armchairs.
