Europe bought nearly all output from Russia's Yamal LNG plant ahead of EU ban

In the first half of 2026, Europe purchased nearly all liquefied natural gas (LNG) output from Russia's Yamal project, according to the Financial Times. The purchases took place months before an EU ban on Russian LNG imports is set to take effect. European buyers spent billions to secure supplies ahead of the upcoming embargo.
