Six tankers crossed Strait of Hormuz with transponders switched off
Six ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday with their AIS transponders switched off, making them difficult to track, Bloomberg reported citing data from maritime monitoring firm Kpler. By Monday morning, radar showed no vessels transiting the strait. Disabling transponders is a known tactic to avoid identification amid ongoing tensions in the region.
