Japanese Detector May Have Caught First Faint Signal from Billions of Supernovae
A detector buried a kilometre underground in Japan may have captured the first faint trace of the combined radiation signal from every supernova that has ever exploded across the universe, known as the Diffuse Supernova Neutrino Background (DSNB). The detection has not yet been confirmed, but if validated, it could transform our understanding of stellar life cycles. Scientists have been searching for this elusive signal for decades.
