Health minister vows to scrap doctors' pay caps in Polish hospitals
Health Minister Jolanta Sobierańska-Grenda told Rzeczpospolita that the government will not back down from plans to eliminate excessive pay arrangements — so-called "pay chimneys" — for doctors in Polish hospitals. She described the situation as requiring a firm response, saying "there is no consent for this." The reform follows the revelation of irregularities involving extremely high individual doctors' earnings.
