Citizen science reveals harvestmen fathers guard eggs more often than mothers

Using photos and observations posted by citizen scientists on iNaturalist, researchers more than doubled the known cases of egg-guarding in harvestmen (an arachnid order). The study revealed that paternal and maternal care evolved along separate evolutionary paths. The project was completed in just days, demonstrating the power of citizen science in accelerating biological research.
