EU split over Israeli settlements trade — Belgium, Netherlands and Spain push for restrictions

A group of EU countries including Belgium, the Netherlands and Spain are working to assemble a majority to force the European Commission to propose limiting trade with illegal Israeli settlements. The push is dividing EU institutions: foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas backs tougher action, while von der Leyen's Commission and countries like Germany and the Czech Republic oppose it. The standoff could culminate in a vote among EU foreign ministers.
