Almería wildfire easing – 12 dead, nearly 1,500 evacuees allowed home

Firefighters gained the upper hand on a major wildfire in Almería, Spain, after days of battling the blaze, which killed 12 people and burned through 66 square kilometres of land. As the fire began to ease, nearly 1,500 evacuated residents were allowed to return home. The Almería fire is one of the most deadly wildfires to hit the region in recent years.
