With close to half a dozen shows in its universe, the Yellowstone franchise remains one of the most beloved on television. Viewers have followed the Dutton family from 1883 , when they first arrived in Montana in brutal circumstances, to 1923 , as they fought to maintain control of their property. In 2018, they find themselves once again fielding threats from all sides; modernization threatens to wipe them off the face of the Earth. But following the death of family patriarch John Dutton ( Kevin Costner ), the family split, and everyone went their separate ways. Then come the offshoots, Marshals and Dutton Ranch , focusing on the surviving Dutton siblings.
