Live-Action "Moana" Flops at $43M Opening; "Toy Story 5" Eyes Box Office Record

Disney's live-action "Moana" opened in the US to just $43 million — almost identical to the similarly disappointing "Snow White" ($42.2 million) — against a $250 million budget. The animated "Moana 2" earned $139.8 million on its opening weekend in 2024. This marks the third consecutive weekend of underperforming new releases at the US box office.
