Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" becomes first biographical film to gross $1 billion

Antoine Fuqua's Michael Jackson biopic "Michael" has crossed $1 billion at the global box office, becoming the first biographical film in cinema history to do so. It set an opening-weekend record for music biopics ($97m in the US, $217m worldwide), surpassed "Bohemian Rhapsody" ($911m) as the most profitable music biopic ever, and overtook "Oppenheimer" ($975m) as the highest-grossing film based on a real person. The film opened in April to mixed critical reviews but proved a massive commercial success.
