Hungary's new PM Magyar wants citizens, not parliament, to elect the president
Peter Magyar, leader of the TISZA party and Hungary's new prime minister, has called for direct popular elections for the president, replacing the current system in which parliament chooses the head of state. This is one of the key constitutional reform proposals put forward by his new government.
