It seems like the box office is witnessing a calm before the storm, with a string of movies underperforming while audiences wait for Christopher Nolan 's The Odyssey and the Marvel Cinematic Universe's latest offering, Spider-Man: Brand New Day . In recent weeks, movies such as Minions & Monsters and Supergirl have come in under expectations, and this week's live-action Moana remake is having its own troubles. The new film's domestic debut fell in the same range as that of the disastrous Snow White remake from last year, and it'll take a miracle for Moana to swim back to the surface after this opening. Meanwhile, who could have thought that a Minions movie would take 10 days to hit the $100 million mark? But that's how long it took Minions & Monsters to pass the milestone. Supergirl is faring even worse, having dropped out of the domestic top 10 in just two weeks.
