Jesuit: Rome Lost Patience with SSPX After Unauthorized Bishop Consecrations
Jesuit priest Marek Blaza praised Pope Leo XIV for acting decisively against the Society of St. Pius X (SSPX) after the traditionalist group consecrated bishops without papal mandate — an act that automatically triggers excommunication under canon law. Blaza said the move showed that Rome had run out of patience, despite the Pope's previous reputation for favouring dialogue. He noted the unauthorised consecrations left little room for any other response.
