McCullum sacked as England Test cricket coach after Stokes retirement
Brendon McCullum has been sacked as England's men's Test cricket coach by the ECB, just one day after guiding the side to the top of the T20 rankings. The decision follows the recent retirement of red-ball captain Ben Stokes, prompting the board to seek a fresh start. McCullum said he was "gutted" by the news and will play no role in preparations for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan in August and September. He will continue coaching England's white-ball teams.
