Paolo Maldini appointed technical director of Italian Football Federation
Former AC Milan defender Paolo Maldini has been appointed technical director of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). His primary task will be to restore Italy's standing in world football after the national team failed to qualify for the World Cup for the third consecutive time. Zbigniew Boniek was passed over for the role.
