80 years ago Soviets abducted 600 Poles in the Augustów roundup

On 12 July 1945 Soviet forces launched the Augustów roundup, abducting around 600 residents from the Augustów and Suwałki region. None of the victims ever returned home. One of the few survivors, Bolesław Rogalewski known as "Sosenka", described the desperate battle near Lake Brożane from which he miraculously escaped.
