Beelzebufo: the prehistoric Madagascar frog that may have hunted young dinosaurs

Beelzebufo ampinga was a large extinct frog that lived during the Late Cretaceous period (roughly 70–65.5 million years ago) in what is now Madagascar, with remains found in the Maevarano Formation. Its name combines "Beelzebub" with the Latin "bufo" (toad), earning it the nickname "devil frog". Analysis of its jaw structure reveals a powerful bite force that would have allowed it to prey on small vertebrates and possibly young dinosaurs.
