First patients enrolled in record-speed Ebola treatment trial in DRC
A clinical trial testing two experimental Ebola drugs has begun in the Ituri region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, just six weeks after the WHO declared the outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on 17 May — a record pace for such research. There is currently no approved drug to treat Ebola, and scientists hope the trial will significantly reduce mortality rates within months.
