Mount Erebus volcano ejects 80 grams of pure gold every day

Mount Erebus in Antarctica has been studied for over three decades as one of Earth's most extraordinary volcanoes. In the early 1990s, scientists discovered that gases escaping from its crater contain microscopic gold particles. Estimates suggest the volcano releases up to 80 grams of pure gold into the atmosphere every day.
