Polish PM pledges memorial to Volhynia massacre victims, calls killings a genocide

Poland's Prime Minister has pledged to build a memorial to the victims of the Volhynia massacre, describing the World War Two killings carried out by Ukrainian nationalists as a genocide. Warsaw and Kyiv have been at loggerheads for decades over the classification of the killings, in which tens of thousands of Polish civilians died. The announcement risks further straining bilateral relations at a sensitive time.
