80th anniversary of Augustów Roundup: graves of 592 victims still not found

On 12 July 1945, the NKVD and SMERSH launched the Augustów Roundup in the area around Augustów and Suwałki in northeastern Poland. Poland's Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) states that the fate of at least 592 detainees remains unknown to this day, and their burial sites have not been found despite years of searching.
