Star City: intentionally imperfect camerawork creates authentic Soviet space-race feel

Cinematographer Brendan Uegama explains how he built the visual language of the Apple TV+ series Star City, set in an alternate-history Soviet space race. Rather than polished, beautiful shots, the team deliberately chose handheld camerawork, imperfect lenses and naturalistic lighting to make the world feel grounded and real.
