Poison hemlock — the plant that killed Socrates — grows near Polish lakes

Poison hemlock, the plant famously used to execute the philosopher Socrates in ancient Greece, also grows in Poland near lakes and marshes. The plant is highly toxic and can be mistaken for edible species. Contact with or ingestion of the plant can cause serious poisoning or death.
