July 12: Feast of St. Bruno of Querfurt, bishop and martyr

On July 12, the Catholic Church commemorates St. Bruno of Querfurt, a Benedictine monk, bishop and missionary martyr. In 2026 the date falls on a Sunday, so most parishes will celebrate the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time instead. Bruno of Querfurt was martyred in 1009 during an evangelisation mission on the Prussian-Lithuanian border.
