Invasive Asian mantises classified as threat to European wildlife

Two Asian praying mantis species that have rapidly spread across Europe have been officially classified as invasive. Aided by climate change and urban environments, they are expanding northward, preying on native insects, pollinators and small vertebrates. They also threaten native mantis populations through deadly mating interactions.
