Hikers followed AI navigation advice and had to be rescued by helicopter in Tatras

During the first week of July, the Tatra Mountain Rescue Service (TOPR) assisted 55 people, including hikers who got lost after following AI navigation tips and had to be evacuated by helicopter. The incident highlights the dangers of relying on artificial intelligence for route-finding in mountain terrain. TOPR has been dealing with a particularly busy period of rescues this summer.
