id Software survives Microsoft Xbox layoffs and vows to keep making games
Texas-based id Software, the studio behind Doom and Quake, was heavily hit by Microsoft's sweeping Xbox layoffs this week, reportedly losing around half its staff with "most if not all" programmers cut. The studio issued a statement on Friday confirming it will continue operating, making games and developing its renowned technology.
