Astronomers measure cosmic expansion using neutron star merger
Researchers from Swinburne University of Technology and CSIRO have combined telescope observations with gravitational wave data from a neutron star merger to measure the Hubble Constant — the rate at which the Universe is expanding. Two existing measurement methods have produced conflicting results, dividing cosmologists for over a decade. The new approach using neutron star mergers aims to help resolve the dispute.
